Project Introduction

We completed an entrance canopy project in Bath at the end of 2022. Miko were instructed by Makers to work alongside Potter Church and Holmes Architects to develop two entrance structures for the renovation of the Podium Car Park in the centre of Bath. Working alongside the architectural drawings, contractor, and client, Miko developed solutions for both structures.

Podium Car Park, Bath

Project Brief / Background

The larger of the two structures was manufactured from universal column and beam. All the steelwork was galvanized by Metaltreat Galvanizers and then powder coated by Elite Powder Coatings Ltd. The steelwork was installed before being clad in Iroko stained Accoya timber, which looks great and creates a fantastic focal point. There is also a set of double automatic doors, supplied by Miko and installed by Alunag. The front of the structure also included a glazed canopy, with 17.5mm toughened and laminated glass, provided by Peterlee Glass. We think the product has turned out fantastic!

What Was Done

The smaller structure which runs adjacent to the main road into Bath again utilises universal steel column and beam. The complete roof was then clad in 17.5mm toughened and laminated glass, fixed via marine grade stainless steel, with aluminium guttering bespoke made and powder coated to match. There is also glass infills to the side and rear of the structure, supplied, and installed by Alunag. Miko also fabricated some bespoke architectural infill panels to coincide with the architect’s initial design. We couldn’t be happier how this project has turned out!
